About Us
This was an awkward page to write
-- because this site isn't about us, it's about you (and because
Midwesterners are naturally modest) -- the online
marketing professional. It's about creating an online marketing portal
that meets your needs, with the latest Web marketing and e-commerce
news, helpful
advice, white papers,
blog links, and an extensive directory of the types
of resources you need to do your job.
But, okay, about us, or rather, about me: WebMarketCentral.com was conceived,
designed, researched and developed, and is maintained by Tom Pick. I've
been doing some of everything in the b2b marketing arena for 13 years,
with an emphasis on research, writing and Web marketing. I built my
first Web site in 1996; it was a competitive intelligence extranet for
an enterprise software company, which the firm's sales force dubbed
"Lethal Weapon" (that wasn't the official name of the site and it's no
longer active, so sorry Mel, but you can't sue me). I developed this
site primarily as a way to help out some of the outstanding people I've
been fortunate enough to meet over the years, but also to demonstrate my
skills (such as they are) in research, writing, Web design and online
marketing. I now consult with companies on marketing strategy and
tactics.
I've been told that I look like Glenn Frey of the
Eagles, but I don't see it. (There's a better photo of me on
my blog.)
