Use great caution when renting an email list; the best lists to use are those you build through your own opt-in subscriptions. Any unrequested email can be viewed as spam; that doesn't mean that you should never rent a list, or that reputable companies don't do this, or that it can't be done properly -- only that you should exercise both caution and judgment in the use of rented lists to avoid alienating rather than attracting potential new clients.
